Hôtel du Centre is a modern multi-storey hotel that caters mostly to business travellers. Despite its name, Hôtel du Centre is nowhere near the centre of Nouméa and it isn’t near the beach either. However, its location in suburban Ducos is convenient for some people visiting Nouméa on business.
The air-conditioned guest rooms are modern and well equipped, featuring comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television with Canal+ channels, plus a kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities and a large fridge.
Most of the rooms are 30m², although there are some larger 60m² suites with separate living and sleeping areas and additional facilities including pod coffee machines and in-room laundry facilities.
With the exception of the Red Room, the hotel rooms have a neutral contemporary decor. However, the Red Room (which is more expensive than most rooms) goes for a bondage dungeon-inspired theme.
Hôtel du Centre has two in-house restaurants: Les Jardins and La Pergola. Les Jardins offers a casual dining environment in a verdant outdoor setting while the rooftop La Pergola offers a more upmarket dining experience.
The hotel also offers a business centre with several meeting rooms.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available; however, this is limited to a maximum of 250MB per day.
Despite its name, Hôtel du Centre is not in the centre of Nouméa and it is actually in Ducos, a semi-industrial suburb around 5km north of the city centre.
There is actually quite a bit to do in the immediate neighbourhood with plenty of places to eat and drink and there are plenty of places for shopping as well with the sort of shops that you wouldn’t find near the other tourist hotels, which is great if you’re in the market for a mattress or a circular saw. Ducos also has a lot of office buildings and the hotel’s clientele of business travellers, including visitors from other parts of New Caledonia, find the hotel’s location more convenient than staying near the beaches or in the city centre.
There is plenty of parking, which makes this hotel a good option if you’re driving and the nearby bus stop is served by three bus routes (L5, L6 and N5) offering six buses per hour into the city centre.
