Parc Municipal du Ouen Toro is a 60ha (148 acre) park near Anse Vata at the southern point of Noumea with a 132m- (433 ft)-high hill that offers panoramic views from the summit.
There is a road to the summit as well as a hiking trail, which is popular with locals and visitors alike.
Sentier du Ouen Toro is a hike that takes you to the top of the hill, offering a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding bay. The trail is well-maintained and suitable for hikers of all skill levels. Along the way, you will see a variety of plant life, including native trees and bushes, as well as a number of bird species. The hike to the summit takes about one hour each way and is a great way to experience Noumea’s natural beauty. Be sure to bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear as the trail can be steep in some areas.
At the summit you’ll find a couple of cannons from the Second World War. You’ll also be rewarded by panoramic views of Noumea and its lagoon and on a clear day you should be able to see as far as Amedée lighthouse.
